Major PWD Negligence: Wrong Pillar Design Found in Indore’s Rajendra Nagar Flyover After 5 Years and Crores Spent

A major controversy has emerged regarding the construction of the Rajendra Nagar Flyover in Indore. Despite spending crores of rupees and nearly five years of construction work, a serious technical flaw has reportedly been found in the flyover’s pillar design. According to initial information, two additional pillars will now have to be constructed due to incorrect design and alignment issues.

Sources claim that around 15 engineers and several technical officials were involved in the project, yet the design error was discovered only during the final phase of construction. This has raised serious questions about the working system and monitoring process of the Public Works Department (PWD). Local residents allege that the project has faced delays and technical irregularities since the beginning.

Rajendra Nagar is considered one of Indore’s major traffic zones, with thousands of vehicles passing through the area daily. The flyover was expected to reduce heavy traffic congestion, but the newly discovered design problem may now increase both the project cost and completion timeline.

In recent years, several bridge and flyover projects in Madhya Pradesh have come under scrutiny over structural and design-related concerns. Following this latest issue, citizens and opposition leaders have demanded a high-level investigation into the matter.

People are questioning how such a major mistake could occur despite years of planning, multiple engineers, and a massive budget. Many believe this incident reflects serious failures in engineering supervision and project management.
